I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 20th-Inst. fear that I cannot have put the metter very clearly in my previous let- ers before the Secretary of State, I therefore send this simple statement r the facts for his consideration,
Last Autumn the Hong Kong Government decided to grant regief by way
increased pension; one of the conditions being that if the pension from
1 sources received by a pensioner exceeded £1000, there should be no grant.

Immediately pointed out that where one of the sources of pension luctuated with the rate of exchange, and where the total might approximato £1000 (as in my case, which was probably unique) the relief intended to granted would be difficult to determine, and might involve a delay of a r before the relief could be paid. As the case had clearly not been fore- en I suggested that some special arrangement should be made to deal with “.
The suggestion obviously required an answer; but although 8 months
: now pussed, none has been received.
During the last 6 months my pension from all sources has been at the He of about £900 a year. I am therefore entitled to the benefit of the
me of relief.
My letter is to be forwarded to Hong Kong, so that there will be at at another 3 or 4 delays delay.

I am, Sir,
Your obedient servant,
